Safyre Labs had planned to launch a whole new brand on their ecommerce platform to sell higher end engagement rings and other wedding and bridal products. They could not sell these products through existing brands (Jewlr and Lee Fiori) since those brands had already established themselves as more budget friendly brands.

With a tight timeline (four months) it was all hands on deck. I was involved with the project from start to finish and worked using a design system to mock up multiple pages and digital products all within Figma. I did this working collaboratively with other designers, managers, and developers.

Over the course of four months the team worked diligently to create the new brand. A design system was created and passed along to the UX team (myself and one other designer) to take away and create mockups. Following the site audit I created, I began designing crucial pages first (collection pages, PDP, global elements, cart, checkout, etc) and then less demanding ones afterwards (general info pages). I would also review completed pages and clean them up. This would include adjustments to the mockup so it adheres to the design system, improving layout, plugging in the correct copy/images, etc. After the design was completed for ONE+ONLY, I adjusted the design system on mobile to have more appropriately sized fonts and spacing.

We already knew the work I had done for our other ecommerce websites (Jewlr, Lee Fiori) was successful based on a/b testing and other collected data. With this in mind, a good chunk of the site involved reskinning existing designs (work I had done in the past) like the collection page layout with side filters or the centre stone wizard in the PDP that lets you customize your diamond.

As pages were completed they were handed off to the developers who would then build out the pages on a staging site and then have us review each page. Since the company did not use any QA software they put together a spreadsheet based on one I had created for other projects to test digital products. While testing was done company wide I was considered a design lead and had to review issues flagged as design changes while also logging my own.

Homepage

The ONE+ONLY homepage features numerous jumping off points for users to begin their engagement ring journey. Users are able to shop by style, shape and product. Collection pages allow users to then hone in further on specific products and styles they would like. Depending on the selections you make, the website would remember those choices and change the images on the homepage to better reflect your taste.

Collection Pages

The ONE+ONLY collection pages cover a number of different styles and products. Taking the collection page I designed for Jewlr and Lee Fiori, the ONE+ONLY design system has been layered on to give it a more sophisticated feel. Users are able to filter products by metal, stone shapes, stone types, product style and more. The decisions made here will also reflect site wide ensuring a more efficient experience should the user leave and then return.

A Mobile First Approach

The ONE+ONLY website was created with a mobile first approach. Every page I designed was created with the mobile user in mind. Looking at the data from our other ecommerce websites we knew that mobile users made up for 80% of site visitors. The mobile experience was extremely important to the company. When we began the project the team had a ton of research and experience from the two already existing brands (Jewlr, Lee Fiori) to aid us. Studying our users behaviour from our existing digital products gave us the knowlege of what to adjust and what to omit.

ONE+ONLY
was soft launched successfully and met with great reviews.

The project was a great learning experience and I pushed myself to improve not only my Figma skills but my design skills, QA skills, and
mentorship skills as well.
